about

In one of my earliest lessons, my teacher, Martin Lund, introduced me to “modes” of music. These modes all have fancy Greek names like “Aeolian” and “Phrygian”. To me these modes convey different feelings. For example, the Aeolian mode of this song feels melancholy, romantic, haunting, mysterious and powerful. (See also the Phrygian mode in the other suite on the album.)

My friend Janine inspired me to write the third “movement” of this song. She had just lost her dad and was on her way to say her final goodbye. She said the song brought up a comforting image of driving along a country road and watching it disappear in the rear view mirror between lush green fields.
